Chasing Adventure with Classic Expeditions Belize: An ATV Experience at Rancho Las Lomas
There is nothing quite like setting out on an adventure and discovering another side of beautiful Belize. Whether you are a local looking for something exciting to do or a visitor hoping to experience more than the usual tourist attractions, inland Belize has so much to offer.
Recently, I had the opportunity to explore with
Classic Expeditions Belize as part of our ongoing journey of discovering Belize. Our adventure took us to Rancho Las Lomas for an exciting ATV experience, and let me tell you, it was a day worth sharing!
Every Great Adventure Starts with Breakfast!
Our day began in Benque Viejo del Carmen, where we hit the road early, made a quick stop at the gas station, and then headed to pick up the rest of our team.
But before any adventure could begin, we had one important stop to make: breakfast!
We stopped at Westar Gas Station and picked up some delicious burritos. And let me tell you, if you have not tried the third food stall at Westar, you are missing out! They have some of the best burritos, and it was the perfect way to fuel up before a full day of exploring.
With breakfast sorted, we were ready to hit the road and make our way to
Classic Expeditions Belize.
Upon arriving, we were welcomed by Jerzon, the owner of
Classic Expeditions Belize, who was accompanied by Melvin. The team was already prepared for the day's activities, with the ATVs and kayaks loaded onto their respective trailers.
After parking our vehicle at their location, we joined Jerzon and Melvin and headed out toward Rancho Las Lomas, where our ATV adventure would take place.
And this is where things started getting exciting!
Rancho Las Lomas: Where the ATV Adventure Begins
When we arrived at Rancho Las Lomas, we were immediately surrounded by beautiful scenery. The property featured lovely orchards, natural landscapes, and a river crossing that was simply beautiful.
While Melvin got busy unloading the ATVs and preparing everything for our ride, we had a moment to appreciate the surroundings. It was already shaping up to be a wonderful experience.
Before setting off, Melvin gave us a brief safety orientation and walked us through what we needed to know before hitting the trails. He made sure we were comfortable and ready for the adventure ahead.
Then it was time to get moving!
We ventured into the off-road trails, and WOW! What an adrenaline rush! The rugged terrain, winding trails, and beautiful views made the ride even more exciting. It was the kind of experience that gets your heart pumping while allowing you to appreciate the natural beauty of inland Belize.

One thing I particularly appreciated was the attention we received throughout the experience. Melvin was an excellent guide, looking after us along the way and making sure we were comfortable throughout the ride. Jerzon also joined me on the ATV adventure, and he was equally attentive and mindful of our experience.
It was great having the owner right there, sharing the adventure with us and ensuring we were enjoying every moment.
What Should You Bring for Your ATV Adventure?
A little preparation goes a long way when heading out on an off-road adventure. One recommendation from Jerzon that I definitely agree with is to dress comfortably and appropriately for the ride.
Here are a few things I recommend bringing:
- Long, comfortable pants: These will help protect your legs while navigating the trails.
- Long-sleeved shirts: Great for additional protection while riding.
- A cap: Helpful for keeping the sun off your face.
- Closed-toe tennis shoes or hiking shoes: An excellent choice for keeping your feet protected and comfortable throughout the ride. Avoid sandals or open-toe footwear.
A sense of adventure: Most importantly, come ready to have fun!
Trust me, you will want to be comfortable and properly dressed so you can enjoy every minute of the experience.
A Well-Deserved Lunch After the Ride
After all that excitement on the ATV trails, it was time to slow things down and enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
Jerzon took us to a lovely lunch spot where we could relax, recharge, and enjoy a meal before continuing with the day's adventures.
I opted for a beef quesadilla, which was just what I needed after an exciting morning on the trails!
One thing I appreciated about the day was the opportunity to enjoy each part of the experience without feeling rushed. From the early morning road trip and breakfast stop to the ATV adventure and lunch, every part added something special to the day.
But Wait... There's More!
You might think that after an ATV adventure and a good lunch, the day would be over. Well, not quite!
After lunch, we headed out to Five Blues Lake National Park, where another adventure was waiting for us.
But we are saving that experience for our next blog!
Let's just say there was kayaking, overnight camping, and an opportunity to step outside our comfort zones. And yes, we even had to prepare our own dinner!
